TAVISTOCK Lions Club has donated cash of £15,000 to four charities — Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock, Children’s Hospice South West, Plymouth Hospitals Charity and St Luke’s Hospice

The money was presented at a recent club meeting by Barry Smith, president of the Lions’ Club of Tavistock and Matt Hibbert, the club’s chair of community services .

The majority of the money was raised over the Christmas period from the Trees of Light and the sale of Christmas cards. John Noblet, who organised the project on behalf of the club, said this was one of the best results ever since the first tree in 1999 and thanked all those involved in making the trees such a success especially all of those who had sponsored lights in memory of loved ones or special occasions.

Receiving the cheques, and pictured in the photo, with the Lions’ members are Christine Palmer, fundraising officer for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Tavistock, Zoe Partridge, area fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West, Jamie Lee, charity engagement coordinator for Plymouth Hospitals Charity and Peter Ward, community fundraiser for St Luke’s Hospice.
