AFTER months of searching with no luck, Tavistock Community Football Club Ladies’ side is hoping it can find a new manager and potentially an assistant manager to ensure the side can keep going.

The side has had success in recent years, including winning the Aquarius Devon Women’s Supplementary Cup last season.

Tavistock Ladies has been looking since April to appoint a new manager but despite an appeal on social media, they have had no luck finding someone to fill the position.

Anyone who would consider filling the position would need to be able to attend training sessions at Tavistock College’s all-weather pitches on Tuesday nights at 7pm for an hour, and be available for games on Sundays for a 2pm or 3pm kick off. Home games are at Crowndale and away games are played around the county.

The manager would also need to be able to arrange match days, send results and match reports to the Times, help to arrange fundraisers and friendly matches, as well as help with any other aspect of the community-based club.

Current player/manager Tania Coker has recently moved to Launceston and has a new job, so she is looking to just go back to playing the game.

She said the last thing she wants is the team to fold as she feels the current side has great potential to win another cup and promotion in the 2016/17 season.

She said: ’We are looking for someone fun but firm, and able to delegate. Being keen, enthusiastic, patient and understanding are great attributes. We also want someone with a love for football and the ability to deal with people is important, as is the ability to work within a team.

’As a team we are fun and hardworking and have a great team ethic which we pride ourselves on. The role will also include looking at encouraging more youngsters to join women’s football and hopefully increase women’s football in Tavistock.

’Experience of running a team would be a bonus but not essential, just as long as you have knowledge of the game and great organisational skills. It is an ideal opportunity for someone to develop coaching skills and become a coach.

’Any applicant could more or less put as little or as much effort in as you feel, it depends on how organised the person is! The team try to do bits and pieces to help out.’

With so many aspects to the potential managerial role, the side is hoping they can find a second person to help share the load and responsibilities can be shared between them.

If you are interested in applying for either position, you can contact the team directly on the ’Tavistock Ladies’ Facebook page or email Tania Coker on [email protected]
