ON Sunday Tavistock Rugby Club hosted the Devon and Cornwall Girls Rugby Festival. Seven Clubs brought players in three age groups.

There were 114 players, who played in 11 games and in which 205 points were scored.

The biggest age group represented was the U15s, with two strong squads from Exeter Saracens and Plymouth Albion. Teams also came from Launceston, Newquay, Liskeard and Wellington, together with the home team.

Some teams were amalgamated to enable multiple matches to be played allowing roll-on roll-off substitutes and well balanced matches. Each team played every other in the age group until bad light stopped play at 4.15pm, by which time all matches had been played except for one.

The overall winner of the festival was Exeter Saracens who won all their matches, but the real winners were those girls who competed and had an enjoyable major-injury free afternoon.
