THE Tavistock Riding for the Disabled Carriage Driving Group was in Bedford Square recently recruiting volunteers.

The group brought its new four-wheeled Fenix carriage and mechanical horse’s head and gave demonstrations of loading a disabled driver, in a wheelchair, into the carriage.

Trustee Elisabeth Dill said: ‘We are delighted with our new carriage and Elli, our wonderful cob, makes light work of pulling it. Our drivers also appreciate the fantastic drive that it gives.’

The group meets three days a week, between April and October, when it teaches disabled people to drive the pony and carriage. The group is looking for volunteers to help with this.

Anyone who enjoys walking, being with horses, has some time to spare and would be interested in helping, contact 01822 615336 for more information.
