A TAVISTOCK family are wrapping up warm and heading off to clean rubbish off a local beach to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Kate Reed, her husband Ryan and son Robin, seven, will be grabbing their bags and patrolling the beach at Bovisand on Plymouth Sound on Sunday, February 18.

They will be joined by Kate’s mum Margaret Cleveland, who lives in Exbourne.

‘We already help out at Tidy Tavy, and I wanted to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association as my mum’s best friend died from the disease,’ said Kate.

‘I wondered what we could do that was different, and I came up with the idea of doing a beach clean. We’ve had some amazing help from Surfers Against Sewage, who have given us gloves and bin bags, and they gave us some tips about the best beaches to clean. If the weather is bad we will be doing it in March instead, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather.’

All the money they raise will go towards research into a cure for the neurodegenerative disease. Find out more at www.justgiving.com/Kate-Reed10.
