TAVISTOCK College hosted its first ever charity dog show on Saturday, May 14.
This event was very well supported by the community of Tavistock, staff, parents and students.
The dog show was organised by students Sophia Buckingham-Wood from Year 12 and Year 10 students Grace Morewood, Bryony Alford, Poppy Pain and Freya Hopkins, who were ably assisted by a host of other students and staff.
The dog show judge was Dr David Harris (MRCVS) who gave up his time free of charge and did a superb job. Some classes attracted more than 20 entries, so he was kept busy all day. Alongside the dog show, there were many local stalls and fun activities to participate in, such as Duchy Dashers Flyball Club, which was very popular.
Sarah Jones, Principal at Tavistock College said: ‘This was a real community event, and we were delighted to welcome so many people to the charity dog show. I am very proud of the students who organised this, and managed to raise so much money whilst ensuring everyone had a good time at Tavistock College on Saturday’.
The event raised over £800, most of which will go to Dartmoor Search and Rescue, and some to support the 2017 prom.
