THE Duckponds 7k multi-terrain race took place and five runners from Tavistock Athletic Club competed.

The race is organised by Plymstock Road Runners, starts and finishes at Oreston Primary School, and is set over two laps on grass, footpaths, woodland tracks and a private road around Radford Park.

Adam Holland was first competitor to the finish, winning in precisely the same time as in 2010. Pete Bazley was next club member , coming second in his age category. Rebecca Windermer ran strongly to finish five minutes behind Pete, with Hazel Walker and Trevor Williams a minute behind.

Times: Adam Holland 22 minutes, 58secs, Pete Bazley 29.03, Rebecca Windermer 34.39, Hazel Walker 36.17, Trevor Williams 36.47.

By contrast, Tamar Trotter's race, the Magnificent 7, is a road race with a reputation for being a real toughie. Its seven mile route takes runners along country lanes around Saltash with stunning views over the Tamar and plenty of hills throughout.

Despite the hills, Adam Holland averaged 5.41 minute miles to finish in 39.52 in third place overall. Pete Bazley just missed winning his M55 age-group in 49.37 and Rebecca Mingo finish 78th out of 400 in 50.07,
