TAVISTOCK Swimming Club travelled to Exeter to compete against teams from Oddicombe, Caradon, Wareham and Clayesmore for the first round of the National Arena Swim League.

They returned home with a well-earned first place. The Tavistock team gained an excellent 16 first places and numerous personal best times. The U11 boys, Alexander Francis, Luke Stephens, Luke Botham and Jake France, showed what they were made of by securing the first win in the freestyle relay and then followed it up with a win in the medley relay.

First places were also secured by Kirsty Best in the open 100m breaststroke, Kathryn Stacey open 100m backstroke and freestyle, Michael Best in the open 100m breaststroke, Matt Edwards in the open 100m freestyle, Cameron McGurk in the U15s 100m butterfly, Kieran Rookes in the U15s 100m breaststroke, U13s 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, Luke Stephens in the U11s 50m butterfly and backstroke, James Anderson, Kameron Brimble, Cameron McGurk and Kieran Rookes in the U15 medley relay. Michael Best, Matt Edwards, Nathaniel Rookes and Gareth Williams won the open boys' medley relay and also the open freestyle relay, when they were joined by Cameron McGurk and Kieran Rookes.

Also taking part were Holly Brimble, Natalie Greep, Sophie Anderson, Alexandra Stoecker, Elizabeth Teague, Emily Attfield, Tilly Barnes, Imogen Dickinson, Chloe Marks, Gemma Arundel, Caitlin Chapman, Roseanna Milburn, Olivia Walker, Stephen Attfield and Pete Jarman.
