BELLRINGERS at Tavistock’s St Eustachius’ Church threw open the church doors to welcome people to try their hand at chiming the bells on February 24.

There is a current appeal across the country looking for new bellringers to help take part in a nationwide campaign to mark Armistice Day.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War on November 11, 1918, the campaign Ringing for Peace Armistice 100 sees bell towers around the country looking to recruit 1,400 new church bellringers — the same number of bellringers who laid down their lives for peace between 1914 and 1918 in ‘the war to end all wars’.
