IN division one of the Okehampton and district Table Tennis League Tavistock A moved four points clear at the top with a comfortable 0-10 win away at Anchorage B.

Anchorage B scores were Dave Wilson (0), John Watson (0), Roger Gilbert (0). Tavistock A scores were Fred Phillips (3), Roger Bowkett (3), Peter Hicks (3). Tavistock also won the doubles and secured a bonus point for the 10-0 win.

The Young Ones moved into second place following their 9-1 win over Anchorage A. The Anchorage side were without Martin Fowler but Ottilia Pochat saved the whitewash by beating Andy Moppett in the fifth set.

The Young Ones scores were George Haskell (3), Edward Haskell (3), Andy Moppett (2). Anchorage A scores were Colin Brooker (0), Dave Edwards (0), Ottilia Pochat (1). George and Edward also beat Dave and Ottilia to take the doubles.

Third place Okehampton A took on a determined Bridestowe side and kept things even at 4-4 before Mark Tancock beat Barry Denner in the final singles 11-9, 5-11, 7-11, 11-9, 10-12. Mark Tancock and Mark Fogerty then added the final doubles beating Tony Howick and Barry Denner 5-11, 11-5, 9-11, 7-11 to earn a 4-6 victory.

In other games Phil Down just lost to both Tony Howick and John Squire in the fifth set and Mark Fogerty just edged the game against John Squire 12-10, 4-11, 7-11,12-10, 9-11.

Also in division one Academy A took on The J Team. Naomi Jackson and Steve Tyler both secured maximums and Sarah Jackson and Steve took the final doubles against Tom Pengelly and Ben Hill to give The J Team a 3-7 win on the night.

Academy A scores were Tom Pengelly (1), Tom Pearce (1), Ben Hill (1). The J Team scores were Naomi Jackson (3), Steve Tyler (3), Sarah Jackson (0).

In division two, Oke Young Ones B players Harry  Bryant, Kieran Coyle and Munkela Elkins all gained their first wins of the season after stepping up to league level play against Moretonhampstead. The more experienced Moretonhampstead side won 3-7 but the Oke Young Ones B players can be commended for their performances.

Oke Young Ones B scores were Harry Bryant (1), Kieran Coyle (1), Munkela Elkins (1). Moretonhampstead scores were Ken Underhill (3), Brian Skilton (3), Richard Underhill (0). Moretonhampstead's Ken and Brian also took the final doubles against Harry and Munkela.

In the previous week, North Wyke travelled to Moretonhampstead and won 4-6. Ken Underhill secured a fine maximum for Moretonhampstead and Brian Skilton and Peter Denman did well to beat North Wyke's Jill Dilley and Dave Scholefield in the final doubles 14-12, 11-9, 12-10.

Moretonhampstead scores were Ken Underhill (3), Brian Skilton (0), Peter Denman (0). North Wyke scores were Paulo Dumont (2), Dave Scholefield (2), Jill Dilley (2). Moretonhampstead and North Wyke are now level at the top of division two although North Wyke have two games in hand.
