IN the short time I have lived in Tavistock I’ve been increasingly impressed by the variety of inititatives that, together, make residing in Tavistock such a pleasure.

Each and every one of them, however, only happens through the personal generosity of talented individuals and the time and effort of dedicated volunteers.

Last Thursday’s organ recital in St Eustachius’ Church was a typical example.  Dr Sean Sweeney gave a beautiful rendition ranging from a jazz arragement of Amazing Grace to Albinoni and Sibelius classics, and with due reverence to Lent!  To have a 150 year old organ within the spiritual heart of the town is fortunate.

But to be treated to a delightful concert, for free, by such an expert, in our little stannary town is indeed a privilege.

Events like this go a long way towards oxygenating the lifeblood of our community.  And all these volunteers really want is for other people to take pleasure from their endeavours.  The next free monthly lunchtime concert is on 3rd March.

Put it in your diary now, and bring at least 3 friends!
