Tamar League A division
Ordulph Taverners v Lifton
BATTING first the Ordulph openers Dhanjal and Credicott batted with confidence and set a good foundation against a very good Lifton attack.
The Ordulph pair defended resolutely and punished severely any loose deliveries. By the time the partnership was broken with Dhanjal (38) falling to M Vanstone the pair had put on a superb 84.
Credicott continued the good work now with Whitfield who settled in quickly and was soon scoring at a rapid rate.
The pair continued developing another rapid 112 partnership until both fell soon after each other but not before they had taken the Ordulph score to a very useful 200. Credicott finished on 86 and Whitfield on 58.
M Vanstone and Westlake were the pick of the Lifton Bowlers who bowled tight economical spells and could count themselves unlucky to only pick up one wicket between them.
Lifton have been scoring 200 runs plus as a matter of course this season but early wicket losses to Dhanjal did little to help their cause but a good run rate was still being achieved.
Pengelly with a robust 44 looked like keeping them in the race until he was undone by the guile of veteran Roger Rich. By the end of his four over spell Rich finished with figures of 2 for 9 before going off with a shoulder strain.
With six wickets down and only 120 on the board it was all but over for Lifton, who lost by 60 runs.
Whitfield proceeded to pick up another three wickets supported by Folley who took one to finally finish the job off.
Thanks to Tavistock Cricket Club for kindly allowing the match to be played at their ground.
Ordulph finish their season next week with their last league game against Yelverton being played at Whitchurch.
