CREAM teas are back on the menu at Belstone — which has been without a tearoom since 2000.

The village's tearoom closed in that year and, according to a local spokesperson, has been missed by locals and visitors alike. But this month the facility is back, albeit on an occasional basis.

For two Sundays, a dedicated band of individuals has organised cream teas and cakes in the village hall, and they have managed to donate more than £300 to the kitchen rebuilding fund.

On the intervening Sunday the tea tent at the village fair had a queue all afternoon, making £320 out of the fair's total of £1,256 — an all-time record.

This Sunday, July 28, the Belstone Players are offering the cream teas to help finance their stage lighting. These will be from 2pm to 5pm in the village hall, opposite the car park.
