PRODUCERS at Okehampton Farmers? Market will be stepping out from behind their stalls to introduce a series of cookery demonstrations and recipe cards at this month?s market. The demonstrations at the farmers? market in the market hall on Saturday, March 19 begin at 10.30am. The short demonstrations aim to share creative ideas on how to use local produce available at the market, with plenty of delicious tasters for the audience. For those who have wondered how to cook venison, photographer and chef adviser Ian Sanders from Beaworthy will be demonstrating how to make a tasty venison stroganoff. The second of three demonstrations during the morning will be a pork in cider dish. Finally, there are demonstration by Linda Davis, of Westlake Orchard, and Mo Robley, of Holsworthy Organics, of how to create three types of salad dressings: classic French, honey and mustard and gin and basil. Linda Davis said with Easter coming up, salad was a good healthy option to counteract the seasonal excesses of chocolate egg consumption. Other stallholders have produced recipe cards featuring tried and tested recipe favourites which will also be launched at this Saturday?s farmers? market. Producers supplying the demonstrations are Stockland Farm Venison, Happy Hogs and Westlake Orchard.
