THE Christmas Taste and See dinner for ladies took place at Tavistock's Ordulph Arms on December 10. Wendy Roderick, education adviser and secondary school teacher gave an interesting account of her life in a talk entitled 'Life at the Chalk Face'.

She described her upbringing in a poor area of South Wales and the significant influences of education, church and chapel in her formative years. She gave vivid illustrations of the Christian English teacher who inspired her to forge a  career in education. Wendy also talked about her faith journey  in which she has recently become a lay reader in the Church of England.

Wendy and her daughter Hannah ended her presentation with a spontaneous rendering of Silent Night which was much appreciated by all .
