WORLD Transplant Games hopeful Wendy Sincock from Spreyton has now reached her target of £2,000 to compete in Japan in August.

Wendy, who received a kidney transplant two years ago, is looking forward to representing her country after winning two gold medals from 800 metres and shotput in the British Transplant Games last summer.

Fundraising events throughout Spreyton and Chagford, where Wendy works as a hairdresser, included a coffee morning, buffet supper and auction.

Three lunch parties at the home of Jill and Robert Pendleton, which raised £170, brought the fund to its target.

'I want to say a big thank you to everyone for their support and kindness,' said Wendy. 'The people of Chagford and Spreyton have been so generous and I have been overwhelmed by the time and effort that has been given to ensure that I make the journey.'
