SENIOR rail managers will be in Bere Alston next Monday, March 19, for a public meeting about the Tamar Valley Line. The line from Gunnislake to Plymouth is one of seven national pilot lines for the Government's community rail development strategy and the meeting, at Bere Alston Parish Hall, is to update local people on the strategy and progress so far. There will also be the opportunity for people to ask questions and discuss current issues about the line and its service. Those present will include representatives from the Department of Transport, Network Rail and First Great Western. The meeting has been organised by the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership. Manager Richard Burningham said: 'This is a great opportunity for local people to find out what it is all about and to put their questions about the line to a panel of senior rail bosses.' The meeting will start at 7.15pm and end at 9.15pm. This will allow homegoing commuters from Plymouth to Calstock and Gunnislake to attend the meeting before catching the last train from Bere Alston at 9.50pm.
