On Saturday the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club took part in the second Tribute event of the season held at the picturesque waterside village of Cawsand and hosted by Rame Gig Club. The final race positions at this regatta give clubs seeding points towards the Newquay Championships in September.
The day was warm and sunny with a flat sea and a lovely breeze so perfect rowing conditions. The beach was crowded with 36 gigs, hundreds of rowers and their supporters. All the T and T teams have been improving race positions over the season and finished the day at Rame with some really good results. The men's team were first out with Carolyn Dawe coxing, Richard Anstey, Peter Clarke, Alex Masters, Matt Pinney, Rob Dawe and Chris Gill finished in 29th place. The ladies A team coxed by Rob Dawe and rowed by Jo Cameron, Carolyn Dawe, Loveday Fethney, Katie Turner, Lynn Renton and Julie Rendle finished in a good final position of 25th while the Ladies B team coxed by Rob Dawe with a crew of Wendy Maclean, Sandra Anstey, Paula Haynes-Parry, Penny Twine, Fizz Ward and Ruth Walker rowed a superb race to finish in 21st place. The juniors were well represented again by Caitlin Haynes-Parry, Charlie Fethney, Angus Hogg, Oliver Wood, Tara Twine and George Masters with Bill Stacey-Norris coxing taking fourth place.
The men's vet crew coxed by Carolyn Dawe and rowed by Tony Walker, David Auborn, Peter Clarke, Richard Anstey, Rob Dawe and Mike Vosper had a good race managing to cut inside three other teams on the buoys with really tight turning.
The ladies veterans had all just rowed in the Ladies A race and so were well warmed up. Cox Chris Dill expertly took the crew through the middle overtook three boats to finish in eighth..
The mixed vets race was the last of the day and the T & T crew had an unfortunate start but they carried on manfully and amazingly caught up to the main pack.

The club holds its own regatta on Saturday, August 27 at Weir Quay — all welcome.
