A ?GOOSE Fair Special? concert takes place next Wednesday, October 9, at Kelly College, Tavistock. Well known broadcaster and singer, Lucie Skeaping, will present a light hearted look at 300 years of English popular songs and anecdotes in a programme of ?Talking Songs?.

Lucie also plays the violin and appearing with her will be tenor Douglas Wootton, who accompanies his singing on the lute and also plays the guitar and cittern.

Many of their songs are well known, traditional ballads from several centuries of English popular music. There will be readings from Samuel Pepys? diary and other 17th and 18th century works. With about 20 musical items and a dozen readings, the concert will make a relaxing end to Goose Fair, celebrating its tradition in a very suitable way.

The event, arranged by Kelly College Concert Society, begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College. Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions). Under 18-year-olds, accompanied by an adult, are admitted free. A money saving subscription ticket for the 2002-3 concert series is available.
