THE MEMORIES came flooding back as Brian James returned to his old school in Tavistock where he was head boy 55 years ago.

Mr James was presenting a trophy to Mount House School which will be awarded annually to the pupil ?who has displayed outstanding conduct and character? and set an example by their behaviour.

He also presented fascinating items of memorabilia for the school collection that he discovered in his cellar ? his school cap, school cricketing gloves and most importantly the cricket bat that was given to him after he scored a century in a school match against St Petroc?s School in 1949.

Members of the school?s successful under nine?s cricket team were very excited to meet him and to compare notes on life as a cricketer at Mount House.
