VETERAN local author, broadcaster and journalist David Mudd is to be the guest speaker at Tavistock Library?s celebration of National Book Day on Thursday, March 4.
A former Tavistock Gazette reporter, David has also worked on and contributed to various newspapers, including the Western Morning News and The Guardian. He also reported for the BBC, Westward Television and ITN.
The author of 16 published books on Westcountry social history and folklore, he is co-author with other writers in a further six and has published one crime novel.
To celebrate his 70th birthday in June David completed a book of short stories to mark his entry into a new occupation as a lecturer on board cruise liners.
In his talk at Tavistock Library, called ?Not a writer, just a wordsmith?, he will contrast the different demands placed on anyone who sets pen to paper, uses a biro or a keyboard, and writes a few words for private pleasure or a book for public comsumption.
