THERE?s an opportunity to win a place in the ?Jailbreak Book of Records? by breaking old and creating new while on the run from Dartmoor Prison this spring. The event will raise money for Vranch House School and Centre in Exeter, which helps children with cerebral palsy and all children with physical difficulties. Teams of two or more can win their place in the book of records while wearing prison gear or any other disguise of their choice. There will be a choice of 12, 24, 36, 48, 72, 96 hours or 168 hours categories in which contestants can attempt to break a record. Those which exist at the moment include: furthest miles ? 16,000 in 6 days; most countries visited ? 22 in 96 hours and famous signatures obtained, which was 69 on memorabilia, including the likes of Wayne Rooney and Bobby George, done in 48 hours. People can pay for their own food and accommodation or can get it sponsored ? the only rule is participants must not pay for transport and must keep within the law. Free transport tickets can be obtained by sponsors or friends paying for or lending transport. Escape routes may be prearranged. This will be the Vranch House School and Centre?s 23rd jailbreak event and since 1984 they have raised £527,200. The event will take place on Saturday, April 29 and will start from the Prison Officers? Club car park at Dartmoor Prison.
