THE Last Night of the Proms concert will once more be staged at the Wharf in Tavistock on Friday, September 10 at 8pm.
What has become an annual event will be staged by Tavistock Versatile Brass Ensemble (Tubes), and this year they will be welcoming the outstanding Soundhouse Brass of Plymouth under their conductor, former Black Dyke Mills euphonium player Denzil Stephens.
Also performing will be the Tavistock Musical Theatre Company and celebrated local soprano Kate Walker.
The first half of the concert will celebrate the best of live music in Tavistock, with popular music featuring Tubes, Kate Walker and Tavistock Musical Theatre Group. The second half finale will be led by Soundhouse Brass and will include all the Last Night favourites, including Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and the British Sea Songs ? including the Hornpipe.
The usual audience participation with singing, stamping, clapping and whistling is expected and the band would like to see more regional flags this year ? perhaps the cross of St Piran, the new Devon county flag or maybe the Red Dragon.
Tickets are available from the Wharf on 01822 611166.
