HEARING Dogs for Deaf People is looking for people to pull on their running shoes to help raise funds for them.

The charity is looking for keen runners to take part in the Dartmoor Vale 2011 which takes place on October 16 near Newton Abbot. There is a marathon, a half marathon and a 10km race to choose from.

The event is organised by the Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club, who will top-up any sponsorship money raised for Hearing Dogs, with an additional donation from the profits of the event. Every runner will receive a bespoke medal from the Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club plus a special Hear ing Dogs medal. If you can pledge more than £30 in sponsorship, you will also receive a special Hearing Dogs running vest. Entry fees are £16 for the 10km road race, £20 for the half marathon and £24 for the marathon, plus as much sponsorship as you can raise.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People's local fundraiser Janine Sargent said: 'Our specially trained dogs make a huge difference to the lives of the severely and profoundly deaf people they assist. We currently have a long waiting list so desperately need to train more dogs and can only do this with more funding.'

The closing date for entries is Friday October 7 but anyone interested should contact the charity as soon as possible, as places are limited. For an entry pack or further information, please contact Janine Sargent on 01208 79786 or [email protected]">[email protected]
