ONE of Dartmoor?s most popular locations can now be visited from the comfort of home via Dartmoor National Park Authority?s website. Haytor Down can be viewed on the authority?s newly re-launched website, http://www.virtually">www.virtually dartmoor.org.uk Virtually Dartmoor is a series of online virtual tours of various locations, including Princetown, Postbridge and Higher Uppacott, a grade I listed medieval longhouse. Becky Newell, oral history project officer, said: ?These virtual tours are a unique combination of oral history recordings and expert interpretation. ?Virtually Dartmoor provides the online visitor with access to a huge store of knowledge, enabling them to enjoy a personal guided tour of some of Dartmoor?s rich natural and cultural heritage.? During the tour, people can find out about the Dartmoor pony, the extensive archaeological remains found there ? from prehistoric field boundaries to 19th century granite quarry remains ? and visit nearby Yarner Wood, the inspiration for Eden Phillpotts? 1912 novel, ?The Forest on the Hill?.
