ONE of the most iconic rides of the fairground has been terrifying children and adults for decades, and one such ride will be thrilling the public again at the Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre in future.
The ghost train was first introduced in the 1930s, many built for travelling fairs. Most ghost trains were in use for up to 20 years, and one such ride, which has been packed away for many years, has now been restored to its former glory by a team of skilled volunteers from the Fairground Heritage Trust, in Lifton.
Measuring 50 feet across, the chamber of horrors within has been created by professional illusionist, Richard Cadell, who is well known for the television programme the Sooty Show on CITV.
The 1940s art work is by fairground decorators Hall and Fowle.
The ride will soon be terrifying the public again at the Fairground Heritage Centre in Lifton. For more information visit http://www.fairground-heritage.org.uk">www.fairground-heritage.org.uk
