A FASCINATING collection of exhibits will be on display at Yelverton this weekend, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the first Spitfire flight. The event has been organised by the South West Spitfire Society and RAF Harrowbeer Interest Group and takes place at Knightstone Tea Rooms, the original control room for RAF Harrowbeer. The Spitfire Society is bringing a restored Spitfire cockpit flight simulator, plus other exhibits and a memorabilia stall. The Harrowbeer group will have a display on the history of the former world war two station and there will be visits from military vehicles. Stephen Fryer of the Harrowbeer Interest Group said: ?We are pleased the Spitfire Sociey are making a return visit ? we hope to be joined by two former Spitfire pilots too. We may also see some vintage aircraft over the airfield as they turn to go down to Navy Days.? The displays will be open between 10am and 6pm.
