AN emergency services open day is being held next Saturday (November 3) at Tavistock Police Station. The event from 10am to 4pm will give people the opportunity to see how a range of agencies help West Devon residents and visitors. In addition to the police, there will be exhibitions and displays from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, and the Dartmoor Rescue Group. Insp Ian Milligan, of Tavistock Police Station, said: ?Due to the age of Tavistock Police Station, we will not be able to open all of it but we will be opening some of the older parts of the building, including the old magistrates? courts which I think people will find interesting. ?Regretfully as it is not a modern building, it may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. It is a product of its time and its historic status puts strict controls on how it can be updated.? As part of the event, Simon Dell, a former police officer at Tavistock, will be giving a talk about policing Dartmoor at the magistrates? court, between 7pm and 8pm on Friday, November 2.
