TEN lucky Year Four pupils from South Tawton Primary School are off to Twickenham for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final — and will even have a taste of the action themselves as they will get to walk out onto the hallowed turf of the English home of rugby.

All of the year four pupils at the school this year got to take part in the Tackling Numbers scheme, an interactive numeracy programme for young children developed and delivered by Premiership Rugby in association with MBNA.

The children from South Tawton Primary took part in ten sessions to help improve their numeracy skills through training with representatives from Exeter Chiefs.

After the sessions a team of ten players were chosen to represent the school at a tag rugby tournament at Sandy Park, Exeter. The team won all of their group games and progressed to the final, where they beat Inverteign Primary School in front of a packed crowd at the Exeter Chief's home pitch, to earn the chance to go to Twickenham.

The team will take part in a demonstration of tag rugby at 1pm with 13 other teams sent through by the other clubs in the Aviva Premiership. They will also take part in a pitch parade at 2.30pm shortly before the final itself.

Nikki Hutchings, a teacher at the school and coach of the team, said: 'It's a great day out for them, and all the kids are really excited about going to Twickenham.

'So are the staff — no doubt we'll be snapping lots of photos on the day!'

The final takes place at Twickenham on Saturday May 28.
