Okehampton's successful TAGB Tae Kwon Club made a worth-while trip to the South West championships at the weekend. Instructor Will Paine took his students to Salisbury to compete in sparring, patterns and destruction. With more than 500 competitors it was a long, tough day but the team still managed to bring home a haul of medals and really put Okehampton on the map! Wodomierz Chimiak (pictured top left) won gold in yellow-belt men's sparring and silver in mens' patterns; Gaynor Crausby (top middle) won bronze in yellow-belt women's sparring; Connor Sanders (bottom middle) won gold in yellow-belt pee-wee division boys' sparring with Adam Howard (bottom right) close behind in bronze position; meanwhile instructor, Will Paine (bottom left), and red tag, Hannah Bevis (bottom right), won bronze and silver in sparring respectively. Mike Howard, Carol Digby and Will Paine all reached the play-offs for patterns and only narrowly missed out on medals for these as well. This is an impressive record for a young club who are now looking forward to the English Championships in Nottingham at the end of March.
