TAVISTOCK Athletic Club had seven of it's junior members representing their county at last weekend's Aviva Sportshall UK Championships (South West) which took place in Paignton.
Selected because of their impressive performances in the Devon Sportshall County Championships last November, Jodie Stacey, Lily Mills, Natalia Ridgeway, Francesca Herdman, George White, Joe O'Loughlin and Harry Herdman joined up with athletes from other Devon clubs to take part in the U11s age group event.
This festival of athletics brought together youngsters from right across the South West who were competing for the honour of becoming regional champions.
Such is the strength of Sportshall in Devon that the home county was able to field two teams — the Darts and the Demons. It was the Darts, which included Lily Mills in it's squad, who came out victorious with both the boys and girls teams heading the leaderboard after an exciting day of indoor athletics.
Tavistock Athletic Club are planning for an exciting 2010 with a growing membership, more coaches coming on board and an expanding range of training opportunities. The new track and field facilities at Tavistock College, the club's base, provide the perfect facilities to see the club enjoy further success in it's 25th year.
