THE Okehampton and District Table Tennis Club 2005/2006 season finished with the final of the Pretoria Handicap Cup played on Tuesday July 11 between Tavistock A top of Division One and Moretonhampstead B bottom of Division Two. Fred Phillips played in the first game against Peter Denman, Fred overcame the handicap to win 20-22, 21-18. David Shilston put Moretonhampstead level, beating Peter Nicholson 21-19, 21-7. Peter Hicks put Tavistock A back in the lead easily beating Richard Underhill 21-19, 21-7. Moretonhampstead B stepped up a gear winning the next three matches for a 4-2 lead, David Shilston beating Fred Phillips and Peter Denman beating Peter Nicholson. The first doubles Fred Phillips and Peter Hicks against David Shilston and Richard Underhill 15-21, 16-21 to Moretonhampstead. In the second doubles, with the match already won by Moretonhampstead, Peter Nicholson and Peter Hicks beat Peter Denman and Richard Underhill in 3 legs 21-14, 17-21, 21-16. The 15th annual meeting of the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League will be held on Tuesday, August 15 at 7.30pm, venue The Riverside Club, Castle Street Okehampton.
