A YOUNG Tavistock woman is getting ready for the experience of a lifetime as she travels to Chile with a youth charity.

Isabel Berry, 22, will swap study projects for environment projects when she leaves in October.

Isabel, who has just finished a business administration degree at Cardiff University, will get a first hand taste of Chilean life when she spends ten weeks working with local volunteers and other young people from all over the world, while completing community, environmental and adventure projects with Raleigh International.

She has already taken part in an introductory weekend where she had a taste of expedition life, which she described as demanding, but fun.

Isabel cannot wait to get started and said: ?These projects provide valuable, sustainable benefits for the communities, and provide volunteers with excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as global and social awareness.

She is spending the summer raising the £3,330 needed for the trip, and later this month will do a sponsored walk from Plymouth to Penzance along the Cornish coast path.

Sponsorship towards the funds has already come from local businesses Ace of Diamonds, Jacolly Puppet Theatre, the Mead Dental Practice and Mainly Stationery.

Anyone wishing to contribute can contact Isabel on 01822 612693. Over 17s interested in taking part in a Raleigh International expedition should call 020 7371 8585, email [email protected]">[email protected] or visit http://www.raleighinternational.org">www.raleighinternational.org
