The Supa Vets, led by Peter Clarke in stroke, Rob Mack Smith in 5, Tony Walker 4, Mike Vosper 3, Simon Howes 2 and Alistair Monteath in Bow, rowed steadily out to the first buoy, making an excellent turn in choppy conditions. Then making the best of the surf, wind and tide to race back, they finished first over the line, claiming the trophy and proving gig rowing is not just for youngsters!
Tamar and Tavy's junior crews took to the water again. The U14s added another second to their racing tally and the U16s, despite racing against much older crews, came in third.
The ladies, mens and (younger, over 40s) vets took seven teams under the captaincies of Jo Cameron, Russell Bayliss and John Rogers. All teams rowed hard in the course which varied from choppy waves to strong tide and surfing waves.
The Men's Vets steamed round the course to come in fourth. The Ladies' Vets gave all they had, almost catching Ilfracombe and Dart on the line.
A great day out in the sun was had by all, finishing with a Barbarians race – mixed crews picked at random.
