Swimathon 2010 came to Meadowlands, Tavistock, this weekend.

On Friday at 7am, two teams of three each took on the challenge to swim five kilometres in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Team Hyder Herrings comprising Geoffrey Cox. Graham Knott and Nigel Horwell, completed the distance in 1 hour 55 mins. Team Halibuts comprising Jonathan Pratten, Peter Bromley and Tamsin Bromley, completed the distance in 1 hour 40 mins.

On Saturday, starting at 4pm, more people came to challenge themselves in this very worthwhile cause.

Molly Scott, aged 10, was aiming to swim 1.5 kilometres but managed 2.5 kilometres (100 lengths) in 55 mins. Her mother, Debbie, who also teaches swimming at the pool, completed 5K in 2 hours 15 mins.

Angela Royton completed 2.5K in 1 hour 56 mins, Mark Mears 5K in 2 hours 55mins and Stewart Pearce 5K in 2hrs 1 min.

Becky Partridge had the fastest time, 5K in 1 hour 56mins.
