GO ON try a triathlon ? that?s the sporting challenge issued by the organisers of the Okehampton Triathlon which will be held for the fourth time this year.

The triathlon, which is running on Sunday, June 13, promises to be bigger and better than ever.

After swimming 300m, competitors will then face an undulating 23 ?kilometre cycle ride to Whiddon Down and back via the B3260 culminating in a run which is a mixture of trail and road. The run has been routed to make the most of Okehampton?s topography and local landmarks.

Anyone interested in taking part, but who feels participating in all three disciplines will be too much, can enter a two or three person team. The team prize last year was hotly contested and the event organisers are looking for more team entries this year.

If you have ever wondered what triathlon is all about, there is no better event to cut your teeth on as a first time participant.

There is still plenty of time to don the trunks, get the bike out of the garage and dust off the running shoes to get in some training in preparation for the big day in June.

Entry forms are available from Bostock Cycles, Okehampton Swimming Pool, W J Pearsall and Moor Cycles.
