Tavistock Colts 24 Bideford Colts 18 ON a perfect rugby day, Tavistock Colts gained revenge for their defeat at Bideford earlier in the season. Tavistock opened the scoring after a good threes move which put full back Ian Rooke over for a try on the right wing. Bideford came back strongly to score a try but Tavistock picked up the pace when Tom Vanstone embarked on a characteristic mazy run to feed prop Dave Vince out wide. Vince offloaded in the tackle for Braithewaite to beat his winger then side-step the full back to score. Bideford replied with a penalty for offside at the ruck to see a half-time score of 12-8 to Tavistock. Braithewaite was in the action soon after the restart after Tavistock threw the ball about to work a gap in their own 22-metre area. He took a pass well inside his own half to outpace the defence to touch down a classy try. Again, Bideford responded with a well-worked try after several drives for the try-line. Braithewaite completed his hat-trick with another classic winger?s try to touch down under the posts. Despite a late try by the visitors, the game was Tavistock?s. Stand off Kaminski kicked well for territory and second row line out jumper and skipper Wheatley made sure the last moves took place deep in Bideford territory. Man of the match: Braithewaite. Centre Vanstone converted two tries.
