HATHERLEIGH Silver Band's CD must have filled plenty of stockings this Christmas because the first batch off the production line have sold out in less than a month.

But don't worry if you have not got your copy yet because the second consignment will be on its way soon no matter what!

Musical director Adrian Edwards has several theories as to why the first CD has been such a success, apart from it being a good listen that is.

'We released it close to Christmas but also the band is becoming quite well known now around the county,' he said. 'We certainly have the best group of players we have ever had and 29 of them are playing on this recording.'

The CD of 17 tracks entitled 'No Matter What' is also all about bouncing back from foot and mouth disease and written information inside the foot cover describes how the community is getting over the terrible crisis.

'Lots of people have seen pictures of Hatherleigh on the news and how the area's livestock has been wiped out and the community left devastated,' said Mr Edwards.

He believed the CD appealed to them because it represented a positive step forward for the community.

Three hundred CDs and 100 cassettes were produced six years after the band's last recording on tape and they have exceeded previous sales already.

The recording, which Mr Edwards spent three days editing to get it sound-perfect, includes a mix of tracks to appeal to everyone from Boyzone's chart-topper 'No Matter What' to The Beatles 'Yesterday' and some brass band favourites.

It also includes a live recording from a county competition in Torquay last year which won the band second prize.

All the profits from the CD will go back into the band's coffers so they can continue competing and performing around the county.
