FIVE students from Tavistock College swam and ran to success at the recent Regional Schools Biathlon held at Millfield School in Somerset. A biathlon is a combination of swimming and running and at this event the boys swam first in the morning while the girls ran, and they changed disciplines in the afternoon. The first test was an early morning start for the athletes - Will Carter, Sam O?Boyle, Tom Green, Laura Aspen and Sam Harmsworth - as they had to be in Somerset for 8.45am to register. Will, Sam O?Boyle and Tom, all in Year 7, came as a team while Laura, Year 11, and Sam Harmsworth, Year 10, came as individuals representing Tavistock College. The college did really well against large, private schools with the Year 7 boys? team coming second, Laura was second in the girls? while Sam Harmsworth came third. All the students who took part for Tavistock College belong to the Zest youth triathlon club so their hard work in training paid off for this impressive set of results.
