TOP Finnish pianist Suvi Niemi makes a welcome return to The Wharf in Tavistock on Friday March 23.
Suvi was born in Lapland and studied at the Lapland conservatory of Music and later at the Moscow conservatory. She is currently living, performing and teaching in Helsinki.
Suvi made her British debut at The Wharf in December 1999 and is returning by popular demand. Her programme will include works by Brahms, Schumann, Chopin, Grieg and her fellow countryman Einojuhani Rautavaara. In addition, she will be performing Adrian Vernon Fish's 1980 Saint Petroc sonata, a work first performed by Leeds finalist Julia Hazelton in 1981.
Suvi has given concerts throughout Europe, Japan and the USA and is still to make an impact on Britain. However, her British debut at The Wharf left an indelible impression on the audience and The Wharf is delighted to welcome her back.
