RIGHT up until the last second the final outcome of this match was uncertain as Tavistock flanker Chris Engel carried the ball to the Launceston line but was dispossessed at the final whistle.
With only 12 players, borrowing three from Launceston to make up the numbers, Tavistock looked dangerous on attack: the forwards looking particularly strong when a rolling maul devouring the opposition territory as the ball was cycled on by the whole pack with Mark Kerwill (Hamley) driving through to score between the posts.
Euan McCall, at centre took advantage of the space provided to him to power his way through the opposition to score under the posts. Euan McCall and Andrew Smerden converted a try each to make this an exciting finish.
Jack Hodges playing at centre spearheaded many attacks from the backs and single handedly won all of the 50/50 loose ball site play that he was involved them to mark his performance as worthy of man of the match.

THE home side started well with good ball retention from the forwards Rollo Whitehouse and George Harold working hard to recycle quick ball to the backs.
After some strong running from centre Rufus Gould resulted in a penalty for fly half Jack Morgan to make a solo 20 metre dash to the line for the
opening try.
Tavistock kept up the pressure. Finally Mark Friend penetrated the defence and set up a ruck just short of the line where Joe Hair picked up the ball and powered over to score.
In the second half scrum half Philip Snell, with a twisting long run, broke through for Tavistock?s third.
The ball was moved out wide to both wings where Rhys Dunford and Josh Stephens made good ground. Barnaby Frost ran in the next off a well-timed
ball from prop Harold.
After some missed tackles Launceston pulled one back only to inspire full back Jack Haigh to put in a very strong run to within striking distance. Frost intercepted a long Launceston pass for his second try.
Josh Stephens converted one hundred percent to score the extra 10 points with his kicking.

STRAIGHT from the kick off Tavistock were under pressure. Eventually that pressure on the Tavistock line told and Launceston went in two tries to the good.
In the second half Tavistock were much more competitive but a Launceston player ripped the ball from a maul to run the length of the pitch to score. Tavistock made more inroads with Rhys Davis, Sam Northmore and Connor Williams making runs through the Launceston defence to be thwarted by lack of support when tackled near the line.
Launceston scored again to go 20-0 up in the last five minutes, however finally Tavistock scored with a handling move which saw Frazier Bayliss get into the corner.

TAVISTOCK took the lead with Aaron Dobie scoring the first of his two tries in style. The next try came from a well worked move from Annabel Longden to Dominique Fagundez-Brindle setting up speedy centre Josh Birch to score in the corner. Launceston were never far behind and at the interval it was 10 all.
Tavy started well in the second half and a burst of pace from Rob Bone and Jordan Stacey gave Dobie the opportunity to take play in the opposite direction wrong-footing the Cornish All Blacks defence.
This seemed to galvanise Launceston and they came back strongly scoring three quick tries despite the hard work of Max Roper and Mitch Williams who put in some solid tackles.
Tavistock Man of the match: shared by Aaron Dobie, Max Phillips and Josh Birch.

HAVING played one match this season Tavistock got off to a good start with Gavin Ball and Christian Hodges scoring early tries. However, Launceston fought back strongly enabling them to put 5 tries over Tavistock?s line.
Tavistock played well as a team. As the match developed Matthew ran three impressive tries and Christian went on to score three more. Callum Lynch, not to be outdone, also put one over Launceston?s line to give Tavistock a total of ten.
