THE BEST man and one of the bridesmaids at the marriage of Bill and Martha Lethbridge were among the surprise guests at the 65th wedding celebration of the couple last weekend in Tavistock.
Tom Alford and Nancy Dingle attended the party at the couple's home in Westmoor Park, where they enjoyed a trip down memory lane.
Bill, who will be 91 on Sunday, and Martha were married at Peter Tavy Church on November 20, 1943 and farmed in Chillaton until they retired in 1985 and moved to Tavistock.
They have been active members of the community with Martha heavily involved in the WI at Chillaton and Whitchurch and a judge at local craft shows and Bill a former member of the Spooners and West Dartmoor Hunt.
They have a son, John, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
