PEOPLE are being invited to get their thinking caps on and take part in the first of many quiz nights to raise money for the Tavyside Patients' Association.

The association, a non-profit making voluntary organisation, was formed from the committees of the former patient associations of the two practices in Tavistock —Wharfside Surgery and Stannary Surgery — which amalgamated to form the new Tavyside Health Centre.

The TPA seeks to represent the interests of Tavyside patients and the health centre. It aims to give patients a voice in the organisation of their medical care, to solve problems and bring suggestions to the notice of the doctors, to hold health education sessions throughout the year on patients' choice of subjects and to fund raise to purchase equipment for surgery use.

The health centre has already purchased £14,835 of equipment since opening with funds raised by the association.

The quiz night will be held on Thursday, October 27 at the Tavistock Parish Rooms on Plymouth Road at 7.30pm. Teams can be up to six people at £2 per head. The quizmasters Dr Andrew Katiff and Emma Edwards from the surgery's nursing team will ask fun, light hearted rounds of questions in varied categories. There will also be light refreshments and a raffle.

The winning team's name will be recorded annually onto a commemorative plaque to be displayed in the health centre and a small prize given to each member of the winning team. For more information or to reserve a table contact [email protected]">[email protected]
