IRELAND comes to Okehampton next week with the town getting its own Irish pub for one night only to celebrate St Patrick?s night.
All Saints Church in Okehampton are getting together with the Open Door Toy Library to celebrate St Patrick?s.
Next Wednesday, March 17, the Church Hall in Market Street will be turned into an Irish pub for the night.
There will be a live ?session? of traditional Irish music, with musicians from Wren, singers from Voices in Common and the Packhorse Singers.
Entrance is free with a bar with plenty of Guiness as well as food for sale.
All profits will go to the Toy Library, a popular local cause, which supports families with young children.
The Rev Stephen Cook, Rector of Okehampton, said, ?This is part of our ?Journey Round the World? social programme at the church this year.
?We began in Merrie England with a trip to the pantomime, last month we went to France, with crepes on pancake night, this month we are in Ireland and next we?re off to South America for a Salsa night, and all without leaving Okehampton!
?We are really looking forward to St Patrick?s night; there are some good musicians coming and it should be great fun.?
The Irish evening starts at 8pm. Everyone is welcome, singers and instrumentalists are particularly welcome to come and join in with a traditional jig.
