I AGREE with C Barnes' comment (Letters, August 9) that Plymouth supermarkets are profiting from West Devon residents seeking wider choice.

The council seems to be of the opinion that if we are denied supermarket choice we will all shop in Tavistock town centre or Morrisons.

Wrong. There is a choice, and that is supermarket shopping online. Our household uses the services of two supermarkets, neither of which are located in Tavistock.

The shopping is delivered to my door at a time convenient to me.

The delivery drivers all say they are getting busier and busier each week. The result is we and many others now seldom venture into Tavistock and won't be tempted until there is more choice.

A decent supermarket should be encouraged to occupy the Focus site before even more people go the 'internet way'.
