RESIDENTS of Tavistock will be asked to give their views on a Lidl store coming to town when the German supermarket chain holds a consultation event on June 27 and 28. Lidl is due to submit a planning application by the end of this month to redevelop a retail site in Plymouth Road which currently houses the Re-furnish furniture store, a fish and chip shop and the old piano centre. It follows an application by Sainsbury's to build a superstore opposite the Bishopsmead Estate on Plymouth Road. The public consultation by Lidl will take place at the Bedford Hotel from 10am to 4pm on June 27 and 10am to 2am on June 28. 'It will give members of the public a chance to speak to representatives from our company about what we are proposing,' said Lidl development executive Oliver McGuinness. 'We would like to obtain the views of the town and this is normal practice when we submit a planning application.'
