THE first superfast fibre connections have been made to homes and businesses in Tavistock using fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) delivery.
Maximum download speeds available at present are up to 80 Mbps.
Tavistock and West Devon councillor John Sheldon said Openreach was still engaged in rolling out this new network in the town but internet service providers were now accepting orders.
Cllr Sheldon said: 'Superfast fibre is being delivered with care and professionalism, it will give the local economy a boost and encourage more digital business.
'At home it will be possible to entertain, educate and enquire far more efficiently.'
