TAVISTOCK's Woodland Riders club was host to the South West Downhill championships at their Gawton site.
A full day of practice on Saturday saw more than 70 riders weave their way down the 'Super Tavy' course. Massive jumps, rocks and slippy roots line the steep descent and along with Saturday's rain, the course was proving a real challenge.
The sun came out for Sunday's main event and the riders faced two timed runs to see who would be crowned winners of their respective categories. Fastest time of the day went to Tavistock's local hero, Ash Mullane in the Expert category, recording his fastest time ever of 1 minute 54 seconds. Junior winner Jay Williamson pushed Ash very close with a very fast 1.55.
Dartmoor Cycle's Jody Bent was crowned South West champion in the master category. A full list of winners will be availiable on the club's website.
Organisers said the weekend had a great turnout and was a 'massive sucess.'
