Tavistock Ladies' 1st XI 7 Totnes 0 TAVISTOCK took early possession. Laura Stapleton and Fiona Dunn cut out attacks through the centre and with the speed of Sarah Barratt and Emma White on the left and right it was difficult for the opposition to find gaps to feed the ball to their players. The first goal was scored by Robynne Honey who had the ball along the base line and neatly drove it past the keeper. Julia Firth was working well in the middle and did some good passes with Honey that allowed her to cross the ball into the D for the other forwards. A lovely ball was struck at goal and stopped on line by the defender. A penalty flick was awarded but a good save from the Totnes keeper prevented Tavistock from scoring. A short corner was awarded to Tavistock and a rebound ball from the post allowed Stapleton to score the second goal. Laura Armstrong was working well on the wing and linked well with Barratt and Lisa Butler, giving good supporting play. Judy Miller scored the third goal from a deflection of the post. The opposition hardly bothered the defence but the odd time that they had a run, goalkeeper Zoe Viggers gave some good calls, allowing Tavistock to pick up players and break down any attack. Armstrong scored the fourth with a hefty strike at the keeper and with Honey performing well on the other wing the forward line were looking to score more. Stapleton cut out most of the midfield play through the middle by making excellent reaches for the ball. White and Jo Gaspar worked well on the left and Gaspar made excellent interceptions. Sue Gawman worked well on the forward line and ran her socks off on the left wing. Firth scored the fifth goal and Honey got the sixth from excellent team play. Dunn remained solid at the back with Butler and it was not long before Miller scored the seventh. This week Tavistock are at home at Kelly College at 10.30am against Mannamead. Tavistock: Zoe Viggers, Fiona Dunn (captain), Jo Gaspar, Lisa Butler, Laura Stapleton, Sarah Barratt, Emma White, Judy Miller, Robynne Honey, Julia Firth, Sue Gawman, Laura Armstrong. Tavistock Ladies' 1st XI 2 Chudleigh 1 TAVISTOCK looked dominant as most of the game play was up in the opposition's D. With a strong midfield and defence, Tavistock were solid in most areas. Sarah Barratt, Emma White and Julia Firth played well and switched the ball from left to right. The strong attacking skills of Becky Lamb allowed numerous good balls to be fed into the D. The opposition had a lucky break and despite good defensive work scored the first goal. Tavistock pulled out the stops. Robynne Honey fed an excellent ball into the D and Judy Miller got on the end of it to equalise. A good team talk from captain Fiona Dunn increased Tavistock's desire to win. Sue Gawman had a good game and made good linking passes with White and Honey. On the left wing, Laura Armstrong made good runs and got back to help defend. Chudleigh had a break and saw three players racing to goalkeeper, Bex Creasy. The speed of Dunn enabled her to get back and take the ball from them to prevent an attack. A short corner was awarded to Tavistock and Laura Stapleton struck a hard ball at goal that went past the keeper.
