Kingsbridge Colts 17 Okehampton Colts 19 EARLY mistakes gave Kingsbridge the lead with a penalty, shortly followed by a converted try following a good attacking move from their centres. At this point it looked hard for the Okes to get into the game and no one could have expected the cliff hanger that followed. In the second quarter the Okes hit a purple patch. Possession from the forwards, especially through Cox and Turner in the turnover, set the backs up with many opportunities. Controlling the game, the Okes drove the home side up the hill. When Kingsbridge lost their discipline the Okes pounced with good penalty moves. It was not long before Sizmur went over for a try, making a fine break from a ruck. Conversion by full back Herrod-Taylor. The forwards worked hard and were rewarded with an excellent try by Searle. The next to go over was second row Young. Conversion by Shields. Half-time 19-10. The second half looked a good prospect for the Okes, but Kingsbridge made some positive substitutions and came straight back with a converted try. With the game poised at 19-17 for the final half hour both teams came close to scoring. Okes were sad to lose Chris Martin with a shoulder injury, but his replacement, Stewart Down, looked very sharp in attack and defence. This week home to Cullompton.
